The first step toward obtaining effective protection is to understand the explosibility characteristics of your particular process media or explosion hazard. FAI can obtain the data necessary to design appropriate explosion protection systems.

Dust Explosion Testing services offered by FAI are aligned with current ASTM standards:

* Explosion Severity Test - measure lower explosivity limit (LEL), maximum explosion overpressure (Pmax), dust explosion characteristics (Kst) and the limiting oxygen concentration (LOC)

* Minimum Ignition Energy (MIE) - measure of sensitivity to ignition by electrostatic discharge

* Minimum auto-ignition temperature (MAIT) - measure of sensitivity to ignition by hot surfaces, friction, sparks and electrical equipment

*Screen for flammable solids classification as required by the Department of Transportations (DOT)
