A recent project example can help illustrate our capabilities. Following a 1% power up-rate at a nuclear power plant, the increased steam velocity to the Safety/Relief valves resulted in standing harmonic wave that caused damage to the Safety/Relief valve piping. This resulted in the utility shutting down to repair the damage and provide a solution to eliminate the problem. The utility selected FAI to evaluate the proposed solution, to perform analyses along with scaled and full-sized tests to confirm the solution, and to support them with their discussions with the NRC. FAI devised and successfully performed first the scaled experiment, to initially provide confidence of the proposed solution and then full sized tests to verify the proposed solution. This whole process was completed in a few weeks, and the utility was able to return to their new power up-rate power level.
